Beauty
and Tranquility Await You
at
Skookum Bed and Breakfast
The gardens
of Skookum Bed and Breakfast come alive during March, April, May
and June with daffodils, winter heather, flowering apple and cherry
trees, gorgeous iris and magnificent rhododendrons.
After a
refreshing sleep in our fresh air country setting you will awaken
to the call of robins at dawn.
Stay awake
late at night to enjoy the spectacle of the stars. If you are lucky,
during the late hours of evening, you'll hear the Great Horned Owls
call back and forth to one another.
During the
day, watch for woodpeckers, hawks and turkey vultures. The families
of quail are a delight as they scurry along the property line and
through the grass. In the summer, watch the deer graze through our
"deer proof" perennial gardens.
Sit on the
porch or in the shade of a mighty cedar while watching eagles drift
on thermal currents. In autumn, enjoy the turning of the leaves
on the maple trees and return once again to see salmon spawn in
our creek.
Our special
apple tree provides treats for our four legged friends. They are
a delight to watch as they graze, sometimes as many as eight at
a time, on apples grown just for them.
In
Winter, just bring a good book or choose one of ours, curl up under
a home-made quilt with a cup of cocoa, and sit by the fire. The
comfort of our home awaits you.
After
enjoying our gardens and forest, come on inside. Skookum Bed and
Breakfast is uniquely and tastefully decorated throughout. The
vaulted cedar ceiling of the entrance way draws your eye to your
upper level
suite. Each room features a collection of limited edition West
Coast First Nations' artwork. We welcome you as you make Skookum
Bed and
Breakfast your home away from home.
"Thank you so very much for the
warm hospitality and providing us all the comforts of home.
Our first Canadian B&B exceeded all of our expectations.
The Sooke area is a place of wonder and beauty and you are
truly fortunate to be living here. The bear, whales, otters,
eagles, birds, ocean coast, we saw it all. Thank you for sharing
your home to allow us to see it."
